The Carnival in Balestrate takes several months, you could say that it begins already in January. Families rent a large garage or a room   decorate it for the party  and with the sound of a record player together to celebrate tradition: Every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the cool evenings take place,  good food and drink is a must. 

This is a steadfast tradition, and as has been said, it begins mid January and ends with a triumphant day, the carnival. The dance evenings, to the dozen or so are visited by masked groups, consisting of people of different age groups, behaving like children is allowed, with unusual clothing, mostly from different clothing or remains,  with a veil over the face, unrecognizable: leader of the group "bastoniere", holds the cane, enters first the room and "orders" the first dance. During the evening, you're trying to  guess the identity of the masked people, not an easy undertaking, as the case may be, recognized or not, a good glass of red wine is not to be denied.

For several years, in addition to the usual fun-maker, in strange clothes through the streets, presents the carnival itself with a Parede of allegorical carts, majorettes and folkloric group going  ahead and followed by a swarm of people by a spectacle of coriander and confetti .
